Background: Currently Mosher-Jordan, Bursley and Baits Halls all have ethernet wiring to all of the rooms. This allows the residents to connect to the campus network at a rate of 10mbs (mega-bits/second). Services that are available include; access to electronic mail, use of TCP/IP based applications (client specific mail and/or news readers as well as WWW browsers (e.g. Mosaic)), and use of applications that might only be available in the public computing sites (e.g. statistical applications) from their rooms. Please use this as a forum for information sharing. If you have questions about the nature of the Housing Ethernet Project (how it works, how to get it, what to use it for). Or if you have found a new or different use for your connection. So have at it! -- Colin Eric Johnson | "if I repent of anything, it is likely to be colinj@umich.edu | my good behavior" -Henry David Thoreau A Must See
